Saline Real Estate Profile
Saline's air of stability and community is quite rare among southeastern Michigan's fast-growing suburbs. New housing surrounds the old town center, near schools, parks, and shopping. Enhancing the rural small-town feel is the open countryside just steps away from most back doors. The town perches on a series of small hills overlooking the Saline River.

Saline, MI Local History
Near Saline and parallel to historic US-12 lies the longest mastodon trailway ever found. University of Michigan paleontologists have partially excavated the corridor where game animals roamed over 10,000 years ago.

Saline was first settled in 1824 by Orange Risdon, a military surveyor who purchased a 160-acre parcel there. It was officially platted in 1832 and named for the salt springs found in the river. Saline incorporated as a village in 1866 and as a city in 1931.
